A & O Specialty Pharmacy is a brand new compounding facility, complete with a state-of-the-art eight hundred square foot compounding laboratory, and an ISO Class 5 Cleanroom so we can deliver the highest quality sterile and non-sterile compounded preparations to our patients. We are dedicated to working with your health care providers to custom tailor medications to your individual needs. At A & O, we strive to build lasting relationships between doctors, pharmacists, and patients, by providing creative therapeutic solutions and serving as a valuable healthcare resource to the community.

About Us

David Smith, PharmD, FIACP
Pharmacist and Owner

David graduated from University of the Pacific, School of Pharmacy in 1981. He purchased A&O Clinic Pharmacy in 2003 and opened A&O Specialty Pharmacy in March 2006. With 34 years of experience, including 15 years with Longs Drugs and 7 years at Tom’s Medical Clinic Pharmacy in Santa Cruz, David has maintained active involvement in his profession. He served as President of the Tri-County Pharmacists Association and was a representative on the Board of Trustees for the California Pharmacists Association. David is a member of PCCA, Pharmacy Compounding Centers of America and has specialized training in both non-sterile and sterile compounding. In 2012, he earned the distinction of Fellow with the International Academy of Compounding Pharmacists. Currently he is serving on the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee for Central California Alliance for Health and he is a board member on the Academy of Compounding for the California Pharmacist Association.

Serena Smith PharmD
Pharmacist in Charge

Serena has a BA in Biology from UC Santa Cruz and received her Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from USC, School of Pharmacy in 2013. She has received training in both Sterile and Non-Sterile Compounding at PCCA in Houston, TX. In 2012, she completed an internship in Sterile Compounding under the mentorship of Dr. William Stuart at Hartley Medical Pharmacy in Long Beach, California. In 2015, Serena completed the Critical Point Sterile Training.
